BLACK ON SUNSHINE
Live! Wednesday, 5th May 2004 at The Barfly Club, Camden, London.

Lets see... To say I was honoured and excited to check out Pete's new band; "Black on Sunshine", on tour... on my own turf... would be a big understatement!
As part of B.O.S's European tour, promoting their new record, these guys did a string of European dates taking in some major cities and playing well known venues in the city centres.
Having just spent a week in France (and what was apparantly an ugly one at that!) they were now in England and tonight, playing a show in London, not too far from me!
Needless to say, I was there. Infact, half an hour early!  Holy Yowza! On time with THIS underground system you mean???
But this was cool, as right after they soundchecked, I hung out with them a little before they hit the stage.
As for the show, it was just awesome!  It was particularly great to hear them live as I hadn't heard this band up til then, and as much as recordings are cool, sometimes you have to see a band live in order to get a feel of what they're really about!
For those who aren't too familiar with Black on Sunhine, it's an interesting, rockin' blend of contemporary hard-edged rock with some experimental warped-style popier influences, making virtually every song different and enjoyable.  Pete's drumming was of course great ,as was Sarge's manic guitar solos, the wildly inventive keyboard harmonies, bassing, vocals, and everything else imaginable, contributed to making this band one of the most interesting I've seen in a while.
One great aspect for sure was that they had alot of different songs to cater for the tastes of alot of different people.  I, in all honesty, loved every single track, but I'd have to say I favoured the songs with a slightly harder, aggressive edge, such as the track "Hurricane".
However, if you prefer a softer, more delicate feel to chill to, there will be something there for you as well... and the only way you'll discover your favorites is by checking out the record!
All in all it was a very fun night, I got to see a kickass band and grab a beer with the boys afterwards.  So if Black on Sunshine play a show in your area anytime soon... GO AND SEE THEM! And check out an awesome band in the flesh!
